Add per-channel media compatibility checks with clear, rich details and persistent warnings
I’ve been asking for this for a while. In version 9, you only get a warning about incompatible media (image or video) if you select a single social channel. When you select multiple channels, there’s no warning if the media fails one channel’s requirements—and the post goes out with errors. What I’m proposing: Block the post when any selected channel has a media mismatch. Clearly identify which channel(s) are affected and why. Show a persistent warning above the channel picker listing the channel(s) that won’t accept the attached media or post type, with specific details. For example, if an image doesn’t meet Instagram’s requirements, the warning should explain exactly what’s wrong (size, aspect ratio/orientation, file format, duration, etc.) and remind the user of Instagram’s accepted standards. This saves users from having to look up specs elsewhere. Why this matters (current behavior): Right now, some warnings appear only after you try to publish when multiple channels are selected, and they don’t give enough detail to fix the issue. The error message is also imprecise and disappears too quickly. For example, when uploading an image for an Instagram post, I get a brief notice saying, “only photo or video can be accepted as media type.” That’s misleading—I did attach an image; it simply didn’t meet Instagram’s specs. The system should call that out directly and tell me what to change.
